Chimera 2009 - August 21-23rd, Motu Moana Scout Camp

Chimera 2009 has been booked in for the weekend of August 21-23rd, at Motu Moana Scout Camp, which is the same place as this year.

What’s Changing?
Next year, instead of a single event on the Sunday, the Sunday format will emulate the Saturday format, that is to say, two time slots with three games. Otherwise, the format will remain the same.

We hope to be able to keep costs the same as this year, though the venue has raised their price by 50% so there may be a slight increase. We apologise for this.

Help Wanted
In order to make Chimera 09 run smoother and more efficiently, and to allow us to grow, we need a few extra hands. Specifically, we need another 2 people for the core organisational team, and a few other people for miscelleanous tasks on the day.

Run A Game
We are accepting game submissions for the next Chimera. Your game must fit into three hours - this means allowing half an hour for briefings, two and a half hours of game play. This is a great opportunity to explore interesting larp ideas. Games must be written for 20 people or less.

Campaign games are strictly invitational. We are trying to keep them to a minimum in order to encourage out-of-Aucklanders to attend.

Please submit your game idea to me via PM or email chimera@nzlarps.org

We have a fair few game slots to fill up, so don’t be shy, send your ideas in

Website
We hope to have an updated website running in November. The Chimera email address will always be functional.

Feedback?
If you haven’t yet filled out the feedback form, but want to make your thoughts heard, please feel free to go and fill out now. Your opinions do matter to us. We want to make this event as good as possible for you.

We hope to see many of you at Chimera next year

I’ve got an idea for a LARP and would like to commit to a Saturday Afternoon slot.

Please contact me to discuss your larp idea and I’ll let you know if Saturday afternoon is feasible

Where do we sign up?!! I’m so excited.

Plans are underway for Chimera 09. We’ve already had a number of volunteers to run games, and still have room for six more!

I’d like a spot for Knight-Fight. Its rapid, objective based fantasy combat. Low rules, high action, guts and glory… and comes complete with pregenerated characters… rules up shortly…

I am happy to run starwars for a full day - like Serenity ran

Jared - we’ve already got a high-combat, low-roleplaying fantasy thing on, Orcball. But if no one wants to run Orcball, we can run Knightfight instead. I am aiming to get as large a variety of events on as possible. That said, KnightFight might suit a Sunday afternoon spot well for when people are tired and just want to hit things.

Adam - there will be no full day games at Chimera 09

fail - half a day? :stuck_out_tongue:

I will take whatever spot is offered.
I seem to remember auto-booking for Knightshade at the wrap-up, is that no good?
Plus Knight-Fight is slightly broader in aspect than Orc-ball.
And Hamilton needs some representation.
Word!

The Chimera Team for 2009 had their first meeting last night and much was discussed, we’ve got some big plans for this year.

Our website with all the new information is scheduled to go live on March 22nd. Stay tuned.

Hey there, since the website is not quite ready yet, can you guys please confirm the start and finish times.

Booking my flights up to Auckland tonight while there are still some cheap ones and don’t want to leave too early on the Sunday. Will hassle other Wellington people soon and try and arrange transport to the camp (maybe a hire car for the weekend).

Oh and guess this means I am confirming a registration and a request for accomodation at the camp .

Cheers
Scott

Hey Scott, so pleased to hear you and a posse are coming up for Chimera! My apologies about the delay in the website.

I can confirm that the start time for Chimera will be 7:30pm on Friday for the informal Meet and Greet, and 9pm for the horror larps (there will be three horror larps plus one non-horror alternative, which is currently looking like it will be an action-comedy James Bond spoof)

Chimera will wrap at 6pm on Sunday. This includes clean up.

I will get you to fill out an official registration form when the site goes up, Scott, but I promise that out of town folk will have priority for beds

Great thanks for that. All booked, get to Auckland at 4pm on the Friday and leaving 7pm Sunday, which gave me some nice cheap flights.

Now will get onto hassling people down here.

See you all in August (those not playing in Masquerade on Fleet St).

its ~$120 return from Wellington, and $230 return from PN.

Travelling to Wgtn by car from PN costs $30. Hmmm…

Hi Anna,
While us out of towners are booking beds, I’ll put my name down too.

Also, people, Knightshade Realms is limited to 20 persons and as required will be a stand alone game. Newbies, sign up early! Early registrations will be able to generate their own characters. Well once registrations open anyways!

here is some feedback= it is massively helpful to know what character we are playing before the game starts so we have the right costume.

Put my name down for a bed if I can…

Am hrrming and haarrring still, someone should say something horrifically convincing to me.

Edited due to me not reading everything on the chimera website.

Are we allowed to bring our own food and use the kitchen if one needs to save pennies?

on the subject of food=

does lucky horse still exist?
