Casting for LOTR-themed commecrial

I received this email today. Not a lot of notice, but perhaps we have some members who would be interested ?

Hi,

My name is Maddy from Catch Casting Services in Auckland. We are currently on the hunt for real LOTRs / Hobbit fans to audition for a Lord of the Rings themed commercial filming in Auckland next month.

Auditions are being held this Thursday 26 July in Grey Lynn, Auckland.

We are looking for fans that have their own themed costumes as if they were dressing up to go to the Armageddon expo.

If you think any members of LARPS may be interested in auditioning please see the below link with details which can be passed on:

We look forward to hearing from you,
Kind regards

That pays really well! Gutted to not be here for filming!

You all should go to this. Seriously! $250 - $1000 if you get picked!

And it would make a great way to meet potential larpers !

I’m considering going…

If you do, take along some NZLARPS business cards

Well I just sent them an email… also, I will be up in Auckland on Thursday by the looks of it!

Damn it’s during practicum.

And we’ve already passed the cutoff.

By the way, if you want to go for an audition then let these people know ASAP! I have got my audition time and they have indicated there is more space.

Also, anyone from Hamilton want to audition? We can split costs!

Also, does anyone want to catch up afterwards for a short while? Let me know.

Maddy rang and said she they have audition times available between 10:30am and 11:30am on Friday morning as well.

Jared, I’m auditioning tomorrow at 1pm.

Mine is at 11am. I can’t hang around too long as I need to get back to Hamilton. I’ll let you know how things go.

How did it go ? I had to move mine to Friday morning.

Kind of fun actually. Not sure how sensitive these people are about content so I won’t say anything. The premise is a load of peps on their way to a convention as LOTR / Hobbit fans. And their reaction to a scenario.

Yeah it was a lot of fun, glad I went.

I took a quick read of the storyboard on the wall, and, sussing out who the main characters were (Galadrial, Aragorn and Gandalf), worked out that “featured” meant some kind of closeup cutaway shot, not a speaking part. All good then.

The casting guy said if I got the part I could use my Sir Xenith armour, which means wouldn’t have to spend time getting a costume fitted.

Bumped into Hannah there as well. So, how did it go for you, Hannah ?

Yep, it was all over quite quickly.
Guess we just wait to see if we get a phonecall. Did anyone else audition?

Got my callback. They asked if I wanted to be a background extra. I turned them down, just too busy for that.

Got my call back. Since I am unemployed, I’m going. I’m an actor now! Woohoo!
