I was jsut searching on the internet and came across a few nice capguns that would make an excellent addition to the setting:

hope you like them, I want one of those rifles so much I’m thinking of ordering one, a bulk order would save costs on shipping though.
Input?

I was in the toy shop at sainbt lukes, the one down near foodtown. They have a quite nice replic of a winchester repeater, that takes two wheels of caps at once. Its made of die cast metal and hard plastic. The price tag on this item is 59.95. i am thinking of getting one for an NPC character. I also had a nice metal pistol at one stage as well. it costme $40, from the same place, but they dont sem to have any there. i suppose a bold and daring person could pluck up the courage to talk with the pretty shop girls, but sadly that isnt me.
I am currently coming up with fund raising ideas, for just this sort of thing. there are other things i think we need s well. like some period light sources that dont drip every where. Next game i will show you all my radio that I made. Its an old case with a CD/radio/tapedeck in it. this way the crew can decidd what the players are listening to, from the news, to the music. So if it is on, pay attention to it, there may well be important info being given out.

You know you want one…

I’d actually like five of them for something I am wanting to do at a future game. But, alas, that would cost me more than a grand u$, so it woudl sorly strap me for cast for the rest of my life time i would think.
I am going to try and build one out of wood, but this will have to wait till i can be bothered and have ome free time, like I do right now. I might go and have a go at the butt right now. I shall keep every one posted on what happens, rather than them just appearing one night, at a game, being used by some one you woudl rather didnt have it.

The profile is very distinctive so just cutting the profile out of timber with a jigsaw, filing it to shape and applying black and brown paint should give a reasonably good mock up.

Having one that went;

Rat-at-at-at-at-at-at-at-at-at-at-at-at-at-at-at-at-at-at

would be better.

Maybe not US$1000 better though!

If you want soft air guns http://www.trademe.co.nz has them.

I just picked up three soft air pistols for around $30 (including postage)

I am wondering how they woudl be safty wise. I recall a number of years ago, we used to shoot each other with soft air guns, bb guns and all manner of other projectile weapons that young people can get their hands on. But whilst they might be fun to use, they might have \some ones eye out before the end of the game. Oh my god, I have become my grandmother.
I mean, they look nice, they have projectiles, os you can tell if people have been hit or not, but they also have certain dangerous abiities, like haveing peoples eyes out, tht might not be looked upon as good.
Lets try out one or two at a game and see what our NPCs say. Or better still, lets give them to the NPCs and see what the players have to say about them, I think thats a better way of dealing with it. its much more objective that way, then the players will know how they feel, and if they cry and hide in the loos curled up in a ball, then we will know that we shant be using them again.

I wasn’t actually planning to shoot anybody with them. I was just planning to dry fire them (yes I know it’s bad for them but they cost $10.00 each so I don’t care).

But, they do have these cool little 6mm paint balls that you can get… :imp:

Paintballs are far to messy for us. they were sugested at the very beginnng, but we discounted. also some people, have been known to put them in the freezer, and then fire them.

I wasn’t really suggesting we shoot each other with anything.

Okey. sorry about that then.

It is important to get the message out there that we dont really want to shoot each other with BB guns, hard or soft. we hve had people wanting to bring them before. But i shall quiet myself about the whole shootjng each other thing.

I can’t help but worry about adults carrying toy guns which notonly LOOK like guns, but also go bang. In these sad times you need to be very careful that your game is not interrupted by a SWAT team shouting ‘freeze!’ as a result of someone getting the wrong idea. Admittedly, this is more a problem in the UK and US, but I’d be careful about carrying these thigns in public. Where do you play the games? Hopefully not in an area shared with mundanes… (see my ‘OOC threat’ thread in the Cross-LARP Rules forum)

Besides, BB and paintball guns are just too dangerous for a game if you don’t have face shields.

we do our games in a private educartion centre in albany. Its far enough away from the mundanes that hey dont care much about what we are doing. And we dont wave the things about really. They are used more often than not in the buildings. When we are out and about, we dont carry weapons at all, and dont put the players into situtions where they would need them any way. Its safer this way. We just look a bit out of place then, rather than threatening as well.

Not only that, but if you’re all in costume even the stupidest flatfoot will figure out something is going on.

“Sarge, I’ve got eight 1920 gangsters running around shooting each other with revolvers, I think I’ve come across a worm hole…”
