Canadian film

I get a lot of emails from people asking how the stone golem was made, and try to answer them all with instructions. Sometimes I hear back later from people who’ve made their own. One of these was from a Canadian guy making a film with larp in it. He got back to me the other day with this clip from the upcoming film, with a few seconds of their golem in there:

There’s more info about their project, “The Battle of Burgledorf”, here:

I imagine it’s kind of an amateur production, so it might be the sort of thing that won’t show up in cinemas. But you never know where things will go, Bad Taste was filmed on nothing and it’s a cult classic.

He’s asking whether there is any larp footage from New Zealand that we might want in the film. Apparently there’s a scene where one of the characters describes larp by showing someone a bunch of videos of larp around the world, so they could include some NZ clips there.

Do we have any video clips we’d like to volunteer parts of? I guess there’s a 20/20 article about Chimera from last year, and the Nightline article about Mordavia from a few years back, and they could probably use short clips from those without permission under fair usage copyright laws. We might want to point out particular scenes that we think look good, so long as the people shown in them are happy to be shown in this film. There’s also The Mordavian Truth, and I guess it would be up to Adam & co whether they’d want to volunteer any of it, and again the people shown in any clips chosen should be consulted. Thoughts? They’re looking for “action scenes”, probably fantasy I’m thinking.

I have a lot of the footage from when my sister Judit and her classmates did a short doco on larping for school. They filmed the second St Wolfgang’s game, “Seven Falls” - I can ask her if she’s happy giving the Canadians some of the footage.

Cool, thanks. I guess what they’re specifically looking for is quick clips that are show dramatic action and give a good impression of larp.
