Right, the venue booking is confirmed. The two larp events will be at the Preschool at Aro Valley Community Centre, on Sunday, 18 October.
The #7, #8 and #9 buses all go within cooee, and I expect that there’s a reasonable chance of carpooling going on if people put their hands up.
My phone number is (021) 045 2561 - let me know if you have any problems finding the place.
But Nobody Loses An Eye!
I will be in the preschool setting up from 1pm. Player briefing will be at 1.15pm, with expected start time at 1.20pm. Game finish and cleanup are expected to be around 3.30-4pm. (People are welcome to come at 1 and help me with setup or, you know, hang around getting into character.
)
This is a catered event - I’ll make sure there are some fruit and veggie snack foods in case of allergies/intolerances, but if you have food restrictions and would like a particular kind of party snack, let me know and I’ll see what I can do. It’s also likely to be a bit messy, please don’t wear clothes that you’ll be upset about getting food on. If you haven’t paid already, please bring cash with you.
There are a couple of player spots still free if you have a friend who would like to come.
Live Combat Training and Safety Workshop
This is taking the place of the workshop that was rained out last Sunday. Everybody is welcome, several experienced larpers will be available to give tips on live combat as she is seen in this thing we call Larp, particularly on safety and basic fighting techniques.
Weapon Safety - is the weapon fit for purpose, perished latex, core exposed?
Combat Safety - Pull your blows, Head Hits
Armour/Costume Safety - can my Chaos spiky bits really be made from steel?
Weapon Maintenance - bring some talc!
Armour Maintenance - some oiling goes a long way!
Game Rules - types, body hits, calls etc.
Combat techniques - weapon & shield, two weapons, reach, rules dependant
One on One Combat - duelling
Mass Combat - chaos
Spells in combat
If you’ve got weapons handy, bring them. If you don’t, this is your chance to see some up close and learn the basics on how to use them.
Turn up around 3.30-4, but please be aware that the previous game may still be running when you get there. Finish time is whenever, but we have the space available until 6pm.
I’m not sure how much interior space we’ll have available for combat practice, but there’s a large paved area just outside and a small park adjacent to the property. There will be toilet and kitchen facilities, and possibly some leftovers. If you’re not already attending But Nobody Loses An Eye, a gold coin donation for venue hire would be appreciated.
Cheers all, and I look forward to seeing you on Sunday!
Stephanie
