Boffer weapon LARP archetype test

I found this the other day.

http://www.okcupid.com/tests/take?testid=3932753786178729864

Somewhat intersting, already knew what I prefer and this just confirms it…
Your preference is: Rogue/Assassin
You’re 52% self-sufficient, have a 51% desire for glory, are 64% willing to do bookkeeping, and are 47% plot-driven!
You should be a Rogue or an Assassin. You can hold your own in most fights, especially if you get behind the guy. But you also like to sneak around and find out secrets, some of which might lead to you saving the day.

Priest/Druid
You’re 68% self-sufficient, have a 64% desire for glory, are 65% willing to do bookkeeping, and are 66% plot-driven!
You should be a Priest or Druid. You have enough skills to take care of yourself, but you can still help out your friends. You can do extraordinary things like drive off demons and purify groves. Plus, religious plot is always exciting!

What the bloody hell is that supposed to mean? I cant even keep a bloody pot plant live.

Ranger/Beastmaster
You’re 65% self-sufficient, have a 56% desire for glory, are 54% willing to do bookkeeping, and are 47% plot-driven!

You should be a Ranger or Beastmaster. You’re very self-sufficient, but in a way that makes Plot sit up and take notice. You don’t have to worry much about bookkeeping, but you do get to run around in a slavering pack if you want to.

meh sounds good to me.

I call off-topic.

Your call to do so if you wish. What is the specific topic for this forum then?

I find this an interesting idea behind the test, to find out what in LARP interests and motivates you. A good thing to know about the players when designing scenarios.

I was hoping to stimulate discussion on what people want to get out of a LARP.
How important is plot? Combat? Puzzles and Riddles? Good vs evil?

Duelist
You’re 63% self-sufficient, have a 68% desire for glory, are 65% willing to do bookkeeping, and are 57% plot-driven!

You should be a Duelist. You’re relatively self-sufficient, but you need backup in a pinch. Still, you like being the hero who kills the big bad guy, and you don’t mind fighting in front of an audience.

:unamused: heh. cool

I’m gunna leave it here since it’s about LARPing. If it careers off topic (likely) then I’ll shift 'er to off-topic (It’s just a few pixels further down). I’ve modified the topic to indicate it’s about boffer weapon LARPing.

I don’t think it’s a very good test because it’s very narrow minded on LARPing. It tends to be put together for a very certain type of medieval fantasy boffer-weapon LARP common in the States, and assumes the test taker is a male powergaming player in a big group of male powergaming players.

Plus, it came out entirely wrong for me:

Priest/Druid
You’re 64% self-sufficient, have a 68% desire for glory, are 63% willing to do bookkeeping, and are 73% plot-driven!
You should be a Priest or Druid. You have enough skills to take care of yourself, but you can still help out your friends. You can do extraordinary things like drive off demons and purify groves. Plus, religious plot is always exciting!

You scored higher than 73% on selfsufficiency
free online dating free online dating
You scored higher than 89% on desireforglory
free online dating free online dating
You scored higher than 68% on accounting
free online dating free online dating
You scored higher than 99% on desireforplot

Yeah, i realise the test isn’t that good, but i’m interested in the concept of identifing peoples interests.

Like having an online form or option for players to indicate their prefernces.
E.g:
Rate the following 1-10. 10=Very important / 1=not important
Combat
Plot
Puzzles
Costume
Food
Inter-PC Conflict
Special effects
etc…

Thoughts?
Worthwile looking into it further, or just wasting time?

I think it is worth looking at in more detail. There is more on this I want to say, but I keep getting side tracked by bloody halloween reserection, which I have already seen.

Yep, a well-made survey would be worthwhile.

Sorry if I sounded negative, I just find those insta-personality-tests to be mostly pointless.

Rogue/Assassin
You’re 55% self-sufficient, have a 56% desire for glory, are 63% willing to do bookkeeping, and are 49% plot-driven!
You should be a Rogue or an Assassin. You can hold your own in most fights, especially if you get behind the guy. But you also like to sneak around and find out secrets, some of which might lead to you saving the day.

You scored higher than 68% on accounting

You scored higher than 26% on desireforplot

Heh, how interesting.

And a survey for Kiwi LARPers would be a really, really good thing! I do it if I had the time or the talent…

beh. all of us do, but pointlessness never stopped anyone. and occasionally you find a funny one.

[/easily amused]

Somehow, I also managed to be a Rogue/Assassin…I don’t get it…

I got Ranger/Beastmaster. And when I retook and tried for mage, I got rogue/assassin. Weird.

I didn’t get Rogue/Assassin. wtf?

Eh? Ranger Beastmaster? Doesn’t sound right (sorry, discarted the results =3)
Further, where was the option of just taking a singlehanded weapon without a shield? =(.

Paladin

You’re 77% self-sufficient, have a 78% desire for glory, are 78% willing to do bookkeeping, and are 70% plot-driven!
You should be a Paladin. You’re enough of a fighter to take care of yourself in most situations, but you have a touch of religion that might make you have to roleplay every now and then. You’re like a priest, but more badass.

lol… a Paladin of darkness maybe.

Or perhaps there’s something bright housing deep inside of you… Someone pass me a pickaxe, I need to dig for it =D.
