Board games weekend!

The time has come for another semi-annualish board games event.

This is for board games, card games, watching anime, and so on. Not things like ‘Magic the gathering’ or ‘AD&D’, though.

When: Saturday 1st July, 12 noon until late (space available to crash if necessary)
Location: 8 Monash Place, Dannemora, S Auckland
Phone: 09 26 525 88

Here’s the discussion thread:

Bring your own games or anime DVDs. Child-friendly, well sort of. Calling out for pizzas and so on for food, but bring your own drinks and so on.

If anyone has ‘Once Upon A Time’ then please bring it.

This is a free event for members and non-members of nzLARPS!

ARRRGGGGHHHHH!!!

I forgot! I’m at home sleeping while everyone is playing! :frowning:

Next time?

feh. Noone turned up. Not going to try running it again!

You’re kidding! NOONE!?

Nil, nada, zip. And after I’d cooked brownies, too (at least I got to eat them all myself). Several apologies from people, though. ANyway, after having one where only 1 person showed, then one with nobody, I think I get the hint…

Ah, that’s a shame. Let’s just run larps

We could try this again. I suspect one of the reasons no one turned up is you dissed M:TG and D&D. I say we try it at our place sometime. I’ve got just about every card game ever sold as I used to test them when they came out. Got Sim city the card game. Dr Who. Yugi oh and even a pokemon deck around somewhere.

Anyway after admitting to all that I think I’ll just leave my name out. But if people are interested in any kind of random games night maybe they could post to that effect.

Annonymous.

P.S. I’m not sure what happened to my DBZ decks.

I’d be delighted to find a few people who are still interested in board games (mostly roleplaying, cards are not my cup of tea i’m afraid).

I have an In Nomine rulebook on me, Shadowrun, Cyberpunk, Kult, Call of Ctulhu, Vampire the Masquarade, Changeling the Dreaming, Werewolf, Mage, Nephilim rulebooks and some more books scanned i can’t recall right now. By the way we started to work on Shadowrun New Zealand with my friend, she is just visiting from overseas. Its fun big time. Did you know that there is a dragon sleeping under Mount Taranaki? Or have u heard of the Taniwha of Rotorua? No one knows how it looks like, but one thing we know for sure: it surfaced during the awakening. Not to mention the wastelands, and the international prison surrounded with it… oops i already told too much information…

Soooooo…

Anyone interested in any of these games? Or any other games i don’t happen to have?

The problem with M:TG, D&D and tabletop roleplaying is that games last forever. They also need lots of preparation, and in some case (eg: MTG) you can’t even play unless you’ve brought along your own personal deck of cards.

The original idea for this weekend meeting was to play small card and board games (like munchkin, mississippi queen, etc) that last less than an hour so many small games can be played, people can try different things, take breaks, wtach anime, etc.

After playing LARP, the tabletop roleplaying seems very two-dimensional to me. This was intended to be something different.

We had a good time in the past with the (card game) ‘Once Upon a Time’ where you play cards as you make up a story and people can steal the story from you by playing their cards. This was good imagination exercise.

Now I have 2xSprogs I think I’m not able to run one of these again, although I’ve many board games and so on.
