Actually I go to piha in the evenings to do midnight canyoning. Because abseiling off cliffs when you can see the bottom is much scarier

I’m keen. Where are people meeting up? I’d like to do one of the canyon trips that has a little abseil if people are interested. You’ll want a wetsuit, because there is a lot of water. It’s not very deep in most places so you don’t need to be a very good swimmer. I’ve done it a couple of times with other groups, but never taken other people through it.
Vanya, I can pick you up if nobody else will. It’s kind of out of the way, but you’re worth it 
We usually meet up somewhere near the flags on the main beach. (left hand side of the lion rock if your facing it)

Im going to pass on the canyoning, as Im more into spending my hours in the sea swimming, but im sure there are others that will be interested.

Togs and thermals probably fine - that’s a guess - I’ve never done it during a summer day
It’d help if you have your own abseiling gear, but I have a spare harness and rack, so if you’ve abseiled before, that’d be good too…
I have a spare females wetsuit that will fit someone around 50-60kg if anyone is interested.
Do we even why to know why you have one?
I’m probably going to be there but will have my two sproglets with me, so no canyoning for me! Kneedeep paddling and paranoiacly keeping an eye on small children will be the order of the day. 
Can’t wait! I always relish the opportunity to do something new and possibly dangerous.
On second thoughts. Beach in the rain. meh.
Update: Because of the Forecast which says it will be fine in the afternoon, we are changing the beach to 1pm onwards.

There has been an update from the organiser folks, there will be no beach today. Something about foul weather or such, bah in my day.
The fact that today i haven’t been able to SEE new lynn let alone the waitakeres…probably a good idea…I wonder how vanya and derek are going?
Canyoning was fucking awesome! Cameron, you’re missed out you piking piker. The weather turned nice, sunny and hot just as we finished up. At 1pm the blue sky was driving away all the clouds from the beach. We didn’t stick round but the Canyoning rocked.
Furthermore Cameron, a 16 year old replaced you and was great. For shame! For shame!
