The auction is here
Actually the auction is here. Derek’s link just goes to a picture.
It closes on Wednesday. It’s in Tauranga, and it’s too dangerous to use.
It would be a great look-at-only prop though (we’d need to disable it from being used of course).
Maybe we should put a small bid in, although I doubt we’d get it for any price we could justify spending…
The transport will be the killer, not the cost…
The main horizontal beams could be replaced with a railway sleeper and the skeins of rope would need to be replaced/rewound.
Ok, I’m now the proud owner of a medieval seige weapon…
Lets see if I can get this thing working properly and safely…
Cool, let me know if you need a hand when you get it back to Auckland. I have powertools!
And if you every want to shoot it in battle, you HAVE to try out SCA combat. Our rules allow us to shoot people with these
I would so love to watch that.
And I am also so glad one of us got it, and not some tosser who would end up getting it take off him by the police, or end up killing some one, or worse end up leaving it in his garage as a talking point, didnt get it.
I would lhave purchased it, but I have no use for it really. I cant justify it being at a 20s game, unless at an auction being sold. but any way.

I’d love to see someone use this in single combat
I’m also willing to lend my hands and powertools.
Thanks for the offers of power tools, but I think between Graham and I we’ve got access to just about every type of tool there is. We’re going to have it freighted up and then check to see just how its constructed and what needs to be improved.
We’ve also got to build some bolts for it yet.
My idea was that whenever theres an event such as NAAMA, St Catherine’s, Jousting tourney etc, then we’d haul it out and set up a firing range.
