Auckland Regional Committee Minutes for May 8th 2013

Auckland NZLARPs Committee Meeting 8 May 2013
7:40pm
Attendees: Hannah, Mike, Clare
Apologies: Cameron, Anna, Rowena, Michelle

Matters arising:
First aid kit – Mike went on first aid course. Anna has advised Linda that we want the big first aid kit. Linda has also recommended getting a neck brace to stabilize potential neck injuries. First aiders should put them on people if they might have a neck injury.
Action Point: Mike to investigate neck brace cost, and to post on committee forum for voting.
Action Point: Mike to ask Linda to bring first aid kit to Teonn, or arrange other way to get it.
Marketing specifications:
Trailer: Mike hasn’t followed up yet – is busy moving house
Porl – Teonn hired a moving truck, maybe other larps could look at doing this? Easy loading/unloading. Cost is the catch – costs about $180-$250 to hire.
Porl - hire place also not open on Sunday.
Mike – not appropriate for society to own a truck.

Crucible:

  • One of the players is concerned about the possibility of getting hit in the head by accident during game, given that the player has a medical condition. Also concerned that some of the player factions have been pre-approved by a GM- wants to see a ruleset first before making decisions about which faction the player plays in.
  • Mike has discussed this with the rest of GM team. -> There is confusion about : faction as in the culture, and faction as in player factions, that are a group within the culture.
  • Players are allowed to create player groups currently. However they are to fit within the culture – the player group cannot dictate what happens regarding the whole of that culture.
  • Crucible has communicated their resolution around player factions on Diatribe.
  • Crucible is advertising for a treasurer.

Finance:

  • Anna wanted to buy 3000 pewter coins for gear- cost of $360 though.
  • Hannah – would like more info – how heavy are they, and what are the alternatives? Do they come in something storable, eg. a chest? What would the storage requirements be?
  • Mike – purchased Nepali coins last time we needed coins for games. Could possibly get more, not sure when though.
  • Mike is posting for more info on committee forum.
  • Discussion of possibility of multiple currencies for Crucible, and what would happen if they had a barter economy instead.
  • Mike – thinking of possibly doing a spit roast for Crucible. Has a spit already.

Gear report - Hannah

  • New vaccum cleaner bought for a bit under $200. It’s a wet and dry one.
  • Also purchased other things –eg. lights, multipower pack for using outside, folding hand trolley, as per committee forum.
  • Witch house have cleaned and dried the gear they used- so should be in good condition for Teonn
  • Hannah to get items off Cameron- they were donated by Peter Haynes
  • Sounds like Witch house may have gone over budget – perhaps due to truck hire? Need to find out if this was the reason for it.
  • Mike would like to officially thank Linda for running a highly informative and extremely professional first aid training session.
