That was a pretty light turnout considering the number of members we have in Auckland.
I think one or two people only came to the AGM because I emailed them to say they could grab their gear from me there. In one case I explained what the AGM is and why it’s important.
It might be a good idea to send an email out to all Auckland members a couple of weeks before the regional AGM in future, and explain what the AGM is for. New members are often quite excited to see inside the running of the society and maybe get involved, but may need more explanation and a more direct invitation. We can’t assume everyone knows what the old hands know.
More attendees would also mean more likely competition for spots on the committee, especially from fresh faces, which I think is a good thing.
