Auckland Regional AGM 2011 - Auckland Committee Nominations

Nominations for nzLARPS committee positions for 2011-2012 are now being taken in this thread.

What are the requirements?
To be on the nzLARPS Auckland committee, you must be a member of nzLARPS, and be part of the Auckland region under nzLARPS definition.

Before you run, please consider the time commitment involved in being on the committee. It is important that you are aware that at the very least, you will be expected to attend a monthly meeting, participate in online discussions, and generally be available to support the society. For the success of the society and larp, the more time and effort you are able to contribute, the better.

How do I nominate someone?
To nominate someone, post below with their name and which position you’re nominating them for. They will need to accept the nomination, and someone needs to second them. You may nominate yourself.

If you are running for a position, you will need to prepare a short speech of at most two minutes length explaining what you intend to do with the role. Voting will happen at the nzLARPS Auckland Regional AGM on September 28th.
The Roles

Auckland Regional Director
Responsible for overall running of committee and society for the region. Promote the vision of the society, chair committee meetings, work for consensus in the committee. Attend meetings as regional representative of the society. Co-ordinate with other regional directors and Society President to ensure cooperation across the country in advancing the aims and visions of the society.

Secretary
Keep all club correspondence in an organized fashion. Send letters as required. Send reminders of meetings to committee members. Take minutes at meetings and distribute to committee members. Communicate decisions made by committee to members.

Treasurer
Responsible for society finances. Keep general ledger to track society expenditure and income. Pay all society accounts. Bank money received. Advise on availability of funds for projects and committee initiatives. Distribute budgets to project owners and receive repayments. Pass accounts to society accountant to be registered with the government. Present financial report of current position at committee meetings.

Gear Officer
Responsible for society-owned equipment. Organise for equipment to be stored, cleaned, repaired, and made available for project events. Keep records of where equipment is kept, ensure all borrowed gear is returned. Advise committee and project owners on what equipment is likely to be useful to current and future projects. Facilitate equipment workshops with project owners.

Marketing Officer
Identify online and offline communities. Devise strategies by which to promote larp games and events to these communities, with a view to recruiting new players into larping and potentially into joining nzLARPS. Coordinate marketing campaigns

General Officers
General Officers take up responsibilities as required by situations. There are two positions available.

I self nominate for General Officer.

You can now self nominate…?

To remove any doubt about this:

I nominate all of the existing Committee members to their current positions.

I would also like to self nominate for General Officer
Michelle

I second Michelle for General Officer.

I second Cameron as general officer and decline the nomination to stay on as treasurer.

Since I think Hamilton classes as coming under Auckland, I nominate myself for Treasurer.

I nominate Anna Klein for treasurer

Joseph, could you give a really quick indication of your experience with finances/book-keeping/accounting, just for those of us who don’t know that stuff about you? I know that speeches are for later, but it might help with people having confidence for seconding and so on. Both the Auckland and National Treasurer positions are really heavy on spreadsheets and book-keeping and either doing accounting or liaising with someone who can. Also be interesting to hear if you’d be happy to travel to Auckland once a month for regional committee meetings (which isn’t an issue for the national position, but that position is even heavier on the accounting side).

I second Joseph for Ca$h master

I accept my nomination.

I also accept my nomination for Marketing Officer (via Adam’s blanket nomination) and second Mike for Regional Director.

I nominate myself for secretary.

I second Zara and Anna’s nominations…

Can we clarify this date? The national committee post says Wednesday 28th September, which I think is right. Also, it’s a bit hard to find the venue and time, we might want to add it to all the posts.
