No experience or special skills required. Mundane tasks also available.
Refreshments & snacks provided.
there is both indoor and covered outdoor space to work in so this will go ahead RAIN or SHINE.

Any keen sewers also welcome, for minor fixes and making carry bags. Further sewing projects are in the pipe line.

I have a job until 1:30 at Omaha, I could possibly be there by 2:30 or 3pm. How long is it likely to go?

Probably until around 5ish, depending on weather, how long things take to get done, enthusiasm levels and number of people who turn up etc.
Feel free to text when you’re finished work to see where things are at and decide on the day, since I know its a long way to come for you.

Ok, will do Hannah. Or I’ll see if anyone wants to catch up afterward as well.

lift from westmere and i can donate and build and sew like a boss ^.^

I’ll be coming from Sunday training, so anyone who is going to that who wants a lift can have one…

where’s that?

where’s that?[/quote]
Cornwall Park. We can probably pick you up for it if you want a lift there.

This is happening THIS SUNDAY, rain or shine.

Here’s my idea of stuff that I think will need to do, of course such a list is tentative, subject to change depending ont he time and skills available, and exact state of the gear.

[ul]Update/Make a list of what we have
Photograph big / strange items with a view of creating an online catalogue
Label blank gear boxes
Check the boxes contain only the gear that is as per their label.
Sort small item gear such as jewellery/money into smaller partitioned boxes
Affix lock to gear shed (with rivet gun)
Shields - maintenance - glue & tape damaged shields
Shields upgrade - cover with fabric (glue) and then paint
Weapon maintenance - check for damage, glue and paint as required, latex?
Weapon Naming - melt/engrave or paint on NZLarps ownership brand
Claws - re-atach to wristband, touch up paint
Sewing - fix any obvious rips in clothings
Shield carry-bags - sew storage/carry bags (similiar style to pizza delivery bags)
Latex weapon storage - sew plastic sheath ( as per discussion with Ryan) or create timber hanging storage (ideas welcome)
Create shopping list of things to buy for future games, such as batteries for LED candles[/ul]

So plenty to do for everyone! Or if anyone has any particular requests of stuff they know that needs attention, then pipe up now.

If you have stuff to bring that could be useful for us, like power tools, sewing machine, leather working tools, latexing stuff, paint (house & detail paints) etc…

If anyone wants to volunteer for any particular task now, that good, or otherwise just turn up and get told what to do now.

Happy to do paint touch ups + sew claws back on. Will bring acrylic paint and brushes.

I could really use a lift there and back if possible - I’m carless atm and bus service out of Titirangi on Sun isn’t so great!

If you have coloured fabric, you don’t need the paint. And SprayDOS is the perfect tool for the job (though you do need something else for the inside - PVA or a staplegun)

I’ll bring a sewing machine

Thanks for the tip. Apparently there is quite a bit of “misc fabric” in a box somewhere, that hopefully upon investigation will work. Though probably not the right colour/texture, but we’ll improvise on the day with what we’ve got.

Also, does anyone have access to a trade account for buying stuff at Bunnings or Mitre10 Mega? I’m planning on buying some stuff before the day, probably Saturday, or I could give you a list… ?

Can you please keep an eye out for my Elven Dagger (copper coloured). Especially before you get to this bit:

It was looted by crew at the last Teonn weekend game and (I hope!) ended up in the crew gear.

Thank you!

Matt

This is Today! Looking forward to seeing you all.

Big thanks to the attendees this afternoon: Charles, Josie, Kirsten, Derek, James, Haden, Cameron, Gaffy, Cheryl, Jackie, Scott, Vanya, Clare, Emily, Ginny. (And thanks to Anna Klein for doing the society accounts today instead.)

Well done guys, we have so much stuff, that it was a mammoth effort, 5 hours non-stop and I’m sure you’re all as tired as I am now. Thankfully the weather held, and despite a bit of wind, we had a good day out. Couldn’t find the NZLarps sunblock sorry, shall make amends for next time.

We managed to get the gear out of the shed (& then back in), the boxes mostly sorted and re-labelled, weapons fixed and re-painted, shields painted, and photographs of the big items, list of the stuff & boxes updated. A few unsafe items were consigned to the rubbish bin, and I’ve identified a few items that the society needs to consider their value of keeping, and will be posting about them later for feedback from our members.

I’ve only got a small pile of washing and mending to do now. So thanks to the GMs for making sure clothes are put back clean, seems to be mostly working.

Thanks for coordinating everything, Hannah. And thanks again to your mom for letting us keep the shed there for the time being.

Honourable mention of the day goes to Derek for donating his posterior so Vanya could test a sword to see if it’d break with one solid whack. (Answer… no. It took four of five solid whacks!)
