Au Contraire 2013

The annual national sci-fi convention, held in Wellington this year, has very kindly chosen me as their fan guest of honour ( :open_mouth: !!) so I will be down there for the duration of the convention, talking about larping and Lovecraft as my areas of geeky expertise. It would be really awesome to see members of the larping community, from Wellington and around the country, attend this event. I’ve never been before, but it looks like a lot of fun!

There’s at least a couple of people from the larp community already heavily involved too (Mel, Gary, Norm etc). It’d be awesome if there were a few more familiar faces there too!

Their website is here: aucontraire.org.nz/

I’ve been going to these cons longer than I’ve been LARPing, so I’ll see you there !

i also have been at cons longer than in the larping community and have said i will help out, so i should see you at the con, enjoy being FanGoh

We’re going to be running a larp or two as well. You should TOTALLY all come along.

It might help to post a schedule so people know when to come and can sign up for places.

Good Idea! The hotel is a great venue for such things. I’ll be taking a room with Sally, so we may be able to assist people with changing space. Let me know if you need any assistance with the LARPs, crew, set dressing, whatever.

Actually, I remember playing in a LARP at a Wellington con many years ago. IIRC I was playing a troll, and I have memories of some naughty fairy wanting to play with my huge weapon… or was that just in my dreams?

That was me and Cat! It was called Meanwhile, Back In Faerie and it was a side adventure for the Mordavia campaign to introduce people to it. You were playing a soldier fairy who’d had his wings chopped off. Also, it was set in a spider web. Good times!
