Armageddon Expo Auckland 2010

Hi everyone. Wondering if any of you Aucklanders (or out of towners) are going to be heading to Armageddon this year, and on which days.
Myself, likely to be Sunday and maybe Monday.

More importantly though, is the Charity Masquerade Ball they’re holding on Sunday night, 24th. I went along last year, and it was a good deal of fun. I think a contingent of LARPers ought to attend.
Cost is $5, tickets can be bought on www.iticket.co.nz, rule is everyone that attends must be either in costume or wearing a mask.

I’ll be there, and I know a few others who have said they will be interested. Please think about joining us! And, if we happen to have some flyers/cards for upcoming LARPs, say, Teonn, or even Chimera 2011, that would be excellent. I always run into interesting people who just have never had the opportunity to actually LARP.

So, if you can come and want to, grab your tickets, PM me, or I shall see you there!

I’m gonna be there all three days, on and off. Definitely going to the Ball, and don’t forget the Burning Man pyrotechnic and fireworks display at the end of the masquerade ball. Looks like all sorts of awesome.

I;m going to be going along on Sunday and definately to the masquerade ball

Well, I’m convinced. Hopefully I’ll be able to make it to the Ball.

Edit: Yep, Masquerade Ball Ticket Purchased. Huzzah! Captain Von Agnew, of the Good Airship Harlequinade shall be there.

Ok, so, horribly embarrassing as it is to my geek-status, I have never been to Armageddon.

What sort of costumes do people get up in for it? From Dave Agnew’s pics I see Steampunk, StarWars and general kiwi jeans and t’s. Any other genres? I guess I’m wondering if I should attempt a costume for the day or just show up in civvies.

Has there been any kind of Halloween-esque presence so far?

There’s all sorts of costumes- Video Game ones, Anime ones, Movie ones, Comic book ones, and then there’s the people who don’t come in costume at all and that’s fine too. Whatever you feel like, really, as long as it’s geeky.

And yeah, there was a couple of stalls decked out for Halloween, and I think I saw someone dressed as Dracula.

Cool, thanks Dave!

A whole bunch of us ended up at the masquerade ball tonight, and that was deliciously good fun. It was like a high school ball, in the best possible way (you’re dressed up! all your friends are there! there’s loud music and expensive drinks and violent conga lines! and for once, we aren’t pretending to be other people!) It felt like what a high school ball would be like, if everyone at the high school happened to be of a geekish persuasion.

There was a Burning Man and pyrotechnics display at the end. We were standing ten metres back and that was some seriously intense heat coming off that thing.

It was worth the $5.
