I received this today. BTW, I’ve responded with a email requesting clarification around their rules for weapons, will post the answer when get it.

This is Michaela, head coordinator of the cosplay events at Armageddon Expo.

This year we have an amazing chance to be able to have two full days of talks and social meet ups for costumers of every kind with our own stage: Stage Three. This will be upstairs from the exhibition halls and very easy to find. It is also on the schedule and so will be advertised. This is a stage with a targeted audience ready to listen.

At this time we are arranging the schedule to have photo opportunities for large groups on Saturday and Sunday and to have Sunday earmarked for introductions to various groups where costuming is a large part of what makes the group unique.

We can offer up to 45mins talking and 15mins overlap/mingle/handing out of info one on one after. We will also have a large screen TV to play any prerecorded information you may have. Right now we have several time slots available in the middle of Sunday.

There are many groups we’d love to have speak however we have to be mindful of our rules for the main stage in regards to safety- so we cannot be seen to be endorsing the use of imitation, replica or live weapons.

If you would like to book a time- or would like to know more please reply to this email and I’ll get back to you asap. Please let me know who will be nominated to speak and what requirements are needed to help make your presentation. We will have tables and chairs and the possibility of a mannequin and lighting set up for portrait photography.

And here’s the answer my email about weapons:
Your weapons are actually a perfect example of what is safe to bring to a convention assuming there is no brandishing and swinging around without looking :wink: Having an opportunity to show case a community as well as show that prop safety is not only possible but desirable and can still look good is something I’ve tried to push for for a long time.

I’m hoping to be able to get the regular cosplayers to see all the opportunities out there as the term has become somewhat narrowed in scope- mainly by media coverage :slight_smile:

If you have any questions about room size, or technical info I can get you that, right now I can say we will have the use of a large screen TV- the anime room has dibs on the screen and speakers, darnit! But I’m hoping that Sunday we can have a horse shoe seating arrangement to allow as many people to see as possible as we will not have raked seating. The room can then be left as it is for the cosplay judging the next day.
What this means is there will be room to be able to do a little bit of improv to give a bit of a taste of what to expect- so long as there is awareness of the audience!
There will be widows at the far end so we will be trying to make best use of them for lighting etc.

Has there been any further news regarding this it seems an approtunity we don’t want to miss.
