An Epic Greek LARP

I’m so in. I’ll happily volunteer for any role, from goddess to madwoman… they did have those, you know… :smiling_imp: will be all fun.

Oh, and Derek: you know the thing about ‘anatomically correct torsos into breastplate’ - it may be possible for the male one, but really, don’t try it on the female one. I don’t suppose you’ve seen the pictures of my armour at Mordavia: Solstice? Same concept. And was… less than satisfactory.

I missed the pun first time 'round.

There are females around with this style of breastplate.

Breastplates are hard to fit. One of the tricks to getting them to work is making them so they touch around the arm and neck holes.

I’m wondering how to make helmets an advantage in a system where you are not allowed to strike the head. I’d rather not add hit points but I can’t think of any other way.

I’d like to get 2-3 people who are keen to help organise a Greek LARP soon after Christmas, when the days are nice and sunny. Hopefully, everyone will have a tan by then

Currently, I’m thinking a single day and evening would be good, but I could be persuaded to make a weekend of it is someone else wants to book a site and collect money.

I’m putting together some rules and some patterns on how to build a hoplite helm, greeves, chiton etc on a low budget. I’m building prototypes at the moment and they’re pretty easy. I think with a small modification to my current design I’ll be able to make a helm in less than two hours (plus drying time) for about $5 each. Once I get this sorted, I’ll run a workshop.

CRAIG: Can we have a private Greek LARP forum please?

You got it.

I’ve given it a silly name, let me know if you want a different one, a different description, a different area, a different set of visibility options, a different set of posting rules, a different moderator, a different set of children, and a different religion.

I’ve made you the moderator, it would be good if you could first-thing post a "sticky’ with the purpose, or some introduction to the forum.

Wot forum?

What can I do to help? I have exams for the next month, but after that I’d like to help.

Well you can start by getting a tan.

Just kidding. You are a lovely colour. That was just too easy to not say.

Can you post a link to a picture here?

Her point is that it’s NOT suitable, though :stuck_out_tongue:

I’ve been holding off this, but I realise now that I want to say it before someone else does.

I want to be Odysseus.

Craig, you’d be a GREAT Odysseus. Just remember he’s not all wit, he’s still a slicin’ and dicin’ hero. So when words fail, remember to cut them all down.

Sold - you’re it!

Just because no one else has volunteered to further their feelings of narcissism, I want to be Aphrodite. I am the fairest of them all.

Eris, the Goddess of Discord, the flinger of the Golden Apple that kicked off the Trojan War. Bags I. :smiling_imp:

Steph

Those of us who aren’t classics students are going to need some sort of condensed primer on the elements that get used in the event.

She is bad.

You are bad for wanting to be her.

I think that’s pretty close to our quota of goddesses

I was thinking about that too. The general concepts could go in with the rules but each character could get a brief outline of "What you REALLY need to know about "

Sold. But only because you are the fairest of them all!

Well, while we’re jumping on the roles we want…I’m reeeaaallly interested in playing Athene. Of course, if we HAVE reached our goddess quota, I’d like to be Medea. points at icon
