A Steampunk Wedding Reception - Needs Writers!

On the 19th of March next year, at Cobblestones museum in Greytown, there will be a Steampunk Wedding. At the reception of this wedding, there will be a steampunk larp. At least, there will be a LARP, if we find someone to write it for us.

This is where things get a little interesting. We (Randy and I), are getting married at the date and place mentioned (all booked already). Venue hire is being paid for, but busses up there and food will have to be covered by the players. This only leaves a LARP to be written for the reception. The LARP itself will be set at a Steampunk wedding reception, and the larpers will be in some way connected to the bride and groom characters (fictional father of the groom, or auntie, or college friend, etc), or to the other guest characters in some way. We figure that such a casting of characters will make interaction with the occasional non-larper at the reception not so immersion breaking.

So what we’re looking for here is expressions of interest from people who would be keen to write a approximately 40 person theatreform larp for our Steampunk wedding reception. If you’d be keen to undertake such an endeavour, leave a reply here or PM me!

besides steampunk what other themes are you looking for? Is it going to be mostly non larpers? do you want it to be a wedding reception with murder mystery?

Steampunk is the theme that decides the aesthetic, technology of the setting, and basic behaviour of the people. I presume you mean will it be Cthulu horror also, or other such themes? We’re looking for steampunk. If there’s drama in there or adventure, that’s a bonus, so I suppose the answer is no.

As stated, most of the attendees will be larpers.

We’re not after a murder mystery game, although some intrigue and drama is encouraged to make it interesting.

I might be interested then… I have more than a few ideas floating around in my head…

Congrats on getting married! As regards fictional relations - won’t the real ones be there? It could be awkward to have someone turn up as the father of the groom, and then your dad wants to know what exactly is going on…

Fair point, poor examples.

Oh right - so will the non-larpers be in on it? Or are they going to suddenly start wondering who is this cousin bob, mabel’s son, that they’ve never heard of?

They’ll know that a LARP is happening, but they wont be in on the details of the game.
