300 on the BIG screen this friday

300 on the big screen.

Going to the new film 300 on the IMAX screen this Friday at 6-30, if anyone else wants to come along. We will be meeting around 5ish, and no doubt sitting around somewhere afterwards talking about it, larping or whatever.
It’s $18.00 but it is the big screen
Its allocated seating, but you can pre-book your seats, including pick up on the day with EFTPOS at www.village.co.nz (we are currently seats H14, 15 , 16)

I will be on my way to easter camp, so until i see it once i get back Keep your Fool mouth Shut about it, Kay.

I dont even want to hear how good it was just to talk about it at all I want to see the film cold with only the small tastes i have had so far as harbringers of the Feast.

You are a very cruel person, my lord

I would like to join in, but for the reason of travelling to Easter Camp can’t do it.
I hope you’ll enjoy your movie

Am going to this tonight, will report back with lots of spoilers.

Its like the Titanic, we know the ending anyway – they all die / the ship sinks,

Actualy not all of us may know the history…I mean looking at the odds

yep, I’m going to a screening tonight too, I’ll fill everyone in on any that were missed by Ryan.

Hi All,
Went to 300 this morning. Expect an enjoyable but somewhat gritty movie, full of a splatter, gore and 300 really hard men.

Jared

The direction and cinematography is artistic, and it works well.

ummmm… no we didn’t…

sigh

The most delicious movie since Sin City!

One word: Wow.

Nah, I didn’t like it. I was really disappointed. Luckily I also saw Pan’s Labyrinth last night, which was excellent - if a bit violent. If you want a movie with wondrous escapism, unrestrained violence, masterful visuals, incredible feats and ridiculously hard men, see Pan’s Labyrinth. If you want a computer graphic-y slow motion look at 300 copies of Jake the Mus killing things, you know what to do. Sin City had heart and we knew all along that the people we were watching were not heroes. 300 feels like cold meat, more science than art, where death is “interesting” and emotions are binary and simple.

Meh.

I find it is all about the expectations with which you enter the theater. When we went to see Pan’s I was expecting something dark and fantastical. I got what I expected and so much more. Its a beautiful work, both in plot and visually. The expectation for 300 was to see exaggerated violence and deep friend cheese. I find an adrenalistic beauty to it. I got exactly what I expected.

I have to agree with MP above, although I haven’t seen Pans Labyrinth, I got what I expected from 300.
Good point I think.
