2014 test/debut game

Matt and I are in the process of writing a debut/test event for the superpower-driven science-fiction game we are working on. Ideally we’d like to run this on either the 16th or 23rd of june, barring any major clashes.

Despite the apparent lack of fanfare or even working title, this idea is very real and we intend to turn it into a large campaign suited for a large number of attendees.

This will most likely be a free, or at least very cheap, event. It is important to understand that this event will be a prologue to the overarching storyline, taking place a few years prior to the official state of the setting. As such, there will be a handful of major differences between this event and future ones:

  1. Very little information about the setting will be given out– players will be thrust into the middle of the events which begin the storyline and shape the world that future games will take place in.
    2. Players will be, without exception, humans, in contrast to the five playable races that will be available at later games. As such, a diminished version of the rules that covers only the basic mechanics of creation and play will be used when rolling characters.
  2. As a test event, there are a small number of player spaces. We’re unsure how to handle this as of yet; some spots will be by invitation only. Future events will be open to greater numbers and character restrictions will be eliminated.

If you’re interested in helping us test but think it’s unlikely you’ll be sent an invitation, feel free to send me a PM and inquire about free spaces. Rulebooks will be sent out to attendees and possibly posted here; the full setting and rules will be available after this event has run.

Excelsior!

This game will be running on the 16th of June. I’ve invited the players and am just working on sorting out a venue. I have a few spaces wanting for crew, if anyone is interested (three or so more than I have now would be plenty).

Would it be beneficial to post the humans-only skeleton rules here for others to look at?
