2006 Committee: Nominations!

Can people please ignore this blanket nomination.
It is not to difficult to have each nomination done separately, and then we can all see the reason for the nomination.
Seperate nominations makes all of them transparent, for both new possible members and the current committee.
While I absolutely agree with your intention, I’m not sure we can ignore nominations. Still, each of these eight nominations need seconding, and need to be enacted at the AGM. I’d be dissappointed if noone challenged any of us - not because we haven’t done a good job but because that’s healthy community involvement. There’s a vacancy and work to be done, so change could be coming!

Here’s the part of the constitution on this:
20. NOMINATIONS FOR COMMITTEE
(a) Every candidate for the Committee shall be proposed and seconded by two (2) members on a written form signed by the candidate and the proposer and the seconder and handed to the Secretary.
(b) All candidates as well as the proposers and seconders must have been members of the Society for a continuous period of not less than two (2) months immediately proceeding the date of submitting the nomination form.
So incidentally, these Diatribe votes (while we’ll take them as valid, f’sure) actually need to be done in writing, signed and handed to Rhiannon at the AGM to be constitutional. We’ll have some time for that.

I Nicolette van den Bergh nominate myself for community officer :stuck_out_tongue: (just to add some healthy compitition) and also accept my nomination for general officer and second this nomination as well.

I, Anna Klein, accept my nomination for Community Officer.

I also nominate myself for General Officer.

i second anna’s nomination for general officer and community officer.

I second Malu’s nomination for Community officer and also nominate her for general officer.

I accept my nomination for community officer and also my nomination for general officer.

Craig is quite right we can not ignore nominations.
Therefore I ask that if you support one of the existing committee members who has only be nominated by Steve at this stage can you either create another nomination for this person, or second the person and give some reasons etc.

Can we create a new forum for all of this, with a separate thread for each post (or a separate thread for each nomination)? This will make things much clearer.

I’m kinda tempted to run for the NZLARPS committee. I do a fair amount of work for the committee as it is, and it might be more efficient if I was inside it.

The reason I hesitate is that I don’t think I could commit to attending a meeting every month. My real-time availability is a bit unpredictable, and I wouldn’t want to be the mostly-absent guy. I’m usually quite available online, but not so much in real life.

I nominate Ryan Paddy for general commitee member.

I accept re-nomination for Secretary.

I look forward to paper nominations because indeed this is getting a little murky. There will be a stack of nomination forms at the AGM.

I accept the nomination for General Officer.

It was cool to see so many people being interested in being on the committee this year. It would be great to see those people, or anyone who’s interested in the running of the society, coming along to the monthly committee meetings. I reckon you wouldn’t have been running if you didn’t feel you had heaps to offer, and there’s no reason you can’t still offer it as general members of the society.

While only the committee can vote on decisions, everyone has an opportunity to speak and influence the direction of the society. If you’ve got a vision for the society, or you want to help it become even more productive in the community, being at the meetings will keep you in the loop.

I agree, it would be good to have more minds involved with the shaping of the society. So come along even if it is just to listen.

You can do a lot more than listen. Ryan’s right, the only difference is voting rights!
