13 Angry Men With Guns - Game Info
Thanks for the great game, writers and players it was really atmospheric and really engaging.

Cheers everyone!
I think your costuming did a lot for the atmosphere  That was definitely a very cool game, I’m just disappointed I wasn’t in the room for the wagon wheel throwing.

And I want to say an extra thanks to Bryn, for doing his best to encourage me to get more involved in other aspects of the game while staying in character

I was looking forward to this game most of all, and was not disappointed!
Hooray for Matt & Jackie!

Absolutely loved this game, this was by far my favourite game of the weekend, and i’d return to Mesquite anytime, I’m missing being the Sheriff already. Just want to say Bryn , you were fantastic to play off…

<3 <3 <3

You made a fantastic Sheriff, Yahn. All of you were super in your roles. It was a treat to get to watch you strip Idiot of his badge!! And your proposal to the Widow … heartbreaking!

OMG you just won Best game for Chimera 2012. Congratulations Jacqueline and Matt !!! Excellent game. So want to do it again
OMG you just won Best game for Chimera 2012.
Makes sense to me. After all, we had 13 men and women of varying degrees of grouchiness who may or may not have guns who had a great time  Hooray for Matt & Jackie!

Bless. <3

It’d be cool to re-run this in a truly western-themed location. I think there’s a bar/club in West Auckland that’s done up like a saloon. And I know in Wellington at Staglands you can hire out the western saloon “picnic” area.

The place where owbn masquerade was run is the western districts fast draw club rooms, its done up as a proper western bar (even has a firing range “outside” the saloon)

hope this helps?

Yep! That’s the one I was thinking of.

They really need a website! (Hmmmm, maybe I can put one together for them in exchange for a 3 hour venue hire!)

How about a campaign game ?? I’d play this as a campaign… no worries.

Jackie and I were discussing writing a sequel game (my FB post notwithstanding) and we sort of thought everyone’s plots are more or less complete at the end of the game. We could certainly re-use the setting, but I’m not sure the rules are robust enough to stand up to a campaign

I don’t know about a campaign, but personally I could definitely see more to the story of Jo Cheveyo with the way things ended, and I’m pretty sure he isn’t the only character who could have more.

Hmmm…there’s no reason a campaign game can’t have elegantly simple rules.

It could be fun to do a western-themed campaign game. However, we did stick to a lot of the usual western tropes for 13 AM, and while that works for a short game it might get too predictable for a campaign. Not sure.

But if there’s demand, I’d be happy to consider looking into running a smaller, “boutique” western-themed campaign game that ran 4 times a year or something. Esp if that saloon David steered me toward is an affordable and cool venue.

There are plenty of “opportunities” that would need to be overcome (Office W*nkword bingo for the win!)

 • Westerns generally involve a lot of travel
 • Life in the ol’ west was generally speaking pretty bloody boring, with bits of excitement thrown in (admittedly, those moments could be the scenario for the games)
 • The characters would have to be carefully weighed and created with a lot of GM interfer… help. Without giving spoilers away, the characters in 13AM are totally not balanced against each other, but in a short-form game that’s not a problem; you just make sure who they interact with is carefully managed. In a campaign it’s more important that character A and character B who have been in the game for the same period of time are roughly equivalent in bad-ass-ness.
 • Likewise, it’s important to most people to have some kind of improvement mechanic, something 13AM obviously doesn’t have at the moment

None of these problems are unsolveable

just a thought for ideas

Ok i discovered this place a while ago… and thought it looked amazing for a LARP! oldwesttown.co.nz/accommodation.html

THat’s a nice looking place , and would be great , but a little out of some folks price range…

Here is another place I have stayed in Rotorua, it’s a Horse Ranch basically (use to be called kiwi ranch) but it takes school groups, and has large hot pools to soak in at night… And it’s relatively cheap for a weekend from memory ( staying in adjoining lodges)…

Humm there’s no pictures of the buildings though!
horse riding though… how fun would that be for an ACTUAL western LARP? awesome. You ought to see Gus on a horse…

Ah… you guys were so much fun to RP with… If it were a similar crew I reckon I would actually be keen for a weekend game… of course some Noobs would be fine too  I think Matt and Jackie are right that the plots got wrapped up a bit… although the Widow and I could do some awesome stuff with all of the money we’ve got - and did Ike get arrested in the end? Also… 2 years down the track… well, I’ll be lookin’ to find meself a man… and I’ll be talkin’ jus’ like y’all by then…
