After the ball is over…

Last night, the impressionable young house-guests of the amiable yet curious Mrs Jennings danced, conversed, laughed - and mortifyingly embarrassed themselves at the Public Assembly Rooms in Bath. Today, your principal dance partner will be calling, and there is naught to do but bring out your netting box, put on a brave face, and reconcile with the events of last night.

A larp of love, friendship, and money by Stephanie Pegg, inspired by the novels of Jane Austen.

This game will run with up to eight protagonists in the sitting room talking over the events of last night and a crew who will play the non protagonists coming to call. Two Inches of Ivory is G rated: your main risks are breaking your heart and feeling foolish. Characters may touch on the big issues of the period, such as the Napoleonic wars and the Abolition movement, but won’t examine these closely.

Hi everyone,

Is there anyone toying with the idea of signing up to this, but who hasn’t yet?

  1. I’m going to be casting in the next couple of days.
  2. I’ve got 8 signups which puts the game on the borderline of viability, with no allowance for people getting sick.

Thanks,

Stephanie

Character sheets have been sent out to the people cast as Protagonist Characters - please let me know if yours doesn’t arrive.

For Crew, I’ll be sending out a briefing this weekend. (Apologies, there’s been a lot of illness in my family this week, and I’m running a little behind schedule.)

Take care,

Stephanie

Thank you all for coming - I had such a lovely time running the game for you. :grinning:

I had a great time, though as crew I didn’t see half of what the players were doing to each other.

First impressions, the letter mechanic was a definite hit. Like the monologues in New Voices in Art, once someone starts doing it, everyone starts doing it, which I guess can be hectic. But it was great responding to letters in-character as the crew as well.

The letter mechanic worked so well - as a player, hearing letters being written to crew and then seeing crew members come in the door 5 minutes later and knowing some drama was about to go down was great fun.
