Sore to be naggy, is there any movement on this? I have quite a lot of spare time at work and can follow up if your busy? Its just I want a piece for Chimera so will need to get the order in quick if its going to be here!
I would be keen to get the frock coat pattern before Chimera, too.

Are you ready to do an order now Cat? If not, I guess there could be one order now and another some other time?
I don’t want to hijack your idea or anything, but if you’re not ready now then I could run this order through the Paddywhack account. Would mean the patterns would arrive in Auckland and there would be a bit of added cost to get them down south though. Doesn’t mean that my website will start featuring bustles.
There’s some stuff I’d like, too (will look up the numbers tonight.) Thank you, noble person or persons who takes on the organising of this.
Here’s what they replied
I am sorry, but no, I do not have a bulk discount. With the use of flat rate shipping boxes, I can ship 8 patterns or 20 patterns for the same cost. So the price you are seeing at the shopping cart are the real costs for shipping. Once you get to that flat rate, adding more patterns will save you on shipping. However, I understand that NZ has customs fees. Smaller packages can usually get passed customs without incurring additional fees. The larger boxes will incur more charges. You might want to contact your local customs office to find out about the fees and how that will effect your total costs.
Does anyone know about the custom fees?
Basically you’re liable for GST and duty on imported goods, which is then waived if its below some amount. There’s some information here, but it helpfully (sarcasm) doesn’t give that amount. IIRC though its in the range of several hundred dollars - Ryan will know, since he’ll have to deal with it for paddywhack.
Actually when i made he boot order for the royal dirigible corps nz, i ended up paying duty on two pairs of boots (they cost 260 all up) so its not as high you as you might think.
As far as I know the magic figure is $250 (so bad luck on those boots David!)
Customs keep changing how the magic number is expressed. First they said anything under $400 is okay. Then they explained that the $400 figure includes the goods, shipping, GST on both the goods and shipping, and any customs tarriffs (most of which amount to 5% of the goods). Now they’re expressing it as whether the GST and tariff charges would be over $60. Dunno what exchange rate they use either.
If I grab the stuff I’ll deal with that mess.
I have just made this coat to this patern. Word of Warning: while the pattern itself is great the instructions are truly dire. It had me pulling out hair in frustration and I gave up on it at three points before finally figuring out how to put it together.

yeah sucks to be me, lesson learned, order them individually lol
Ouch. I’ve never used a pattern, always just winged it when sewing. Trial by fire!
Okay, let’s do this thing. Ryan - you have experience with the whole overseas ordering thing, so if you’re okay doing the logistics, please do!
I would like:
4-gore underskirt (TV-261R)
Wash overskirt (TV 362)
French bodice (TV 463)
I hereby swear to offer any and all assistance in pattern-reading and sewing advice that is in my power.
Awesome. I would like:
#TV405 - 1872 Vest Basque
#TV208 - 1870 Trained Skirt Ensemble
#TV101 - Petticoat with Wire Bustle
Bustle Wire for TV101 - size large
I’m happy to pick this stuff up at Chimera if it’s arrived by then. Thank you Santa! Uh, I mean Ryan.
Cool. Anna and Luisa, speak up if you still want things.
Please list the items you want this weekend, I’ll probably make the order on Sunday night.
None for me thanks. Money is going to be tighter then when i first thought.
I’ll compile my list and put it up later tonight. Thanks Ryan!
At the moment I’ve got 10 items for 5 people, total US$189 with shipping.
There are more coming though. I may possibly split this into two orders, one to go to Wellington and one to Auckland.
If I end up doing that, would anyone in Welly like to receive the Wellington package and distribute it?
