So, what people are doing on Easter?

I went to a Catholic secondary school and they were pretty big on the whole Easter thing. We got taught that historically, crucifixions were carried out by lashing the wrists of the victim to the horizontal board, which was then affixed to a stake to create the cross.

My understanding is that Jesus was nailed as well, out of spite. Given that his wrists were already lashed to the board, it doesn’t really matter where they nailed him.

Interestingly, when I was on my OE, I discovered that Easter Sunday was the day the everything shut down in the UK, vs Good Friday here (I know, Easter Sunday has restrictions too, but Good Friday is the big one here). I suspect this is because of the dominance of the Catholic Church during the European Colonisation phase of our history.

Easter Camp was pleasant. I didn’t get there until Sunday and slept through most of it (very, very tired and a little ill) but I got to chat with and hug a lot of friends that I don’t see very often. And managed to sleep through most of Monday’s packout.

Yup, the Easter Camp was great. It was very nice to see you, Cat!

By the way, not trying to encourage the discussion on technical aspects of crucifixion, but as far as I remember the main accent there was placed on the particular position of the body, which shifts the centre of gravity and prevents normal breath. So the cricified were dying of suffocation.

Great to see you too.

How is your hand?

Not as bad as could be expected, thanks. The bruise is not well seen, so I don’t scare my workmates. But really hurts when touched, I can’t even hold a pen properly (so my handwriting is currently very bad and weak :frowning: )

well here is something to cheer you up.

steve was very impressed and happy with my reports of your fighting at the camp, and says “Well Done”

he was stoked that you were not only getting stuck into the combat, but that you were enjoying it.

I told you, everything should be done in proper time

Everything?

Carl, watch my hand: readjusts the glasses

(for those who are not aware: I tend to readjust the glasses with middle finger. I don’t do it intentionally, it’s just the longest finger so the most convenient for it. So if you see me doing that, don’t be scared please  )
