Pre-Gen PC Cheat Sheet

I’m very visual and I find “wall of text” character sheets almost impossible to digest. Like Jared, I appreciate it when I get some bullet point lists. Different people absorb information better or worse in different formats. I find just re-writing information helps, even if I never re-read my notes later.

One point I never made before. It isn’t so much that I don’t appreciate the rich detail we get sometimes, it is simply a Chimera issue of having 5 other games to deal with. This yeah we got character info early enough to have had a good read. And we got the bulk of it before Chimera (sans goals).

But all that info was really competing with all the rest of the character info already in my head for every other game. Not to mention running a game. (Or 4 like some crazies).

So I’d like to say that this years flagship team did well to get us info out early but the reality is I had to re-read it several times during game. The 6 odd pages of info is more like what I submitted for Teonn, let alone for a 3-4 hour game.

So that’s my personal angle.

Also HAPPILY EVER AFTER was great. The comments above are only a small grumble.

Hey, I had no idea she might have been my daughter.

Glad you enjoyed Happily Ever After

When GMs write flagship larps using Larpwriter, we have to put together pages covering general information about your larp, information about your character group, and your very own character sheet for your PC. That’s why the information you get for flagship games can easily cover 6 pages. Several pages of that would comprise the other characters that are in your group, or info about the characters that your one is personally connected to.

We try to keep the sheets short and well organised, but big larps do require a fair bit of information by their very nature.

Oh yeah don’t get me wrong, the detail is fantastic. I just have difficulty with so much info at Chimera with so much swirling in my head. And who I am to really criticize background info… when my own submitted player character sheets are pages and pages long (Wolfgangs, Teonn).
