King of swords for all your LARP kit

I’m with Anna on the axes and maces, I also rather like the look of the claymores and a couple of the shields.

The problem here is that these weapons are only a small step up from our homemade and SKIRMISH weaponry but still cost the same as a Paddywhack weapon, so there isn’t much incentive to drop that much money on them. The standard dagger and “ninja sword” (argh) look decidedly awful for the amount of money they are asking.

What I AM liking is the selection of quivers and holsters in the side menu, a few nice leather armour pieces as well but the point stands, the prices would need to be significantly lowered for there to be much incentive to shop for these. If they were on the cheap side I’d suggest we buy a pile of them to add some variety to our SKIRMISH/spare weapon stockpile and it’d be a good place to point new players for gear whenever that new amazing fantasy game rolls about.

Once you take the NZLARPS discount into consideration, Paddywack appears to be better quality and look for the same $.

However, the items not done by Paddywack (shields, quivers, etc) are of interest.

Maybe they will drop prices to beat the competition…

On their front page, they mention ‘register your group to receive discounts’. Possibly we could get some sort of affilliation agreement for NZLARPS, depending on the discounts on offer. After all, while I prefer Ryan’s gear, we dont have an exclusive arrangement and its in the interests of larpers to give them more options.

Just remember these items are looking at being brought in by king of swords, who also trades on trademe using the same name.
So don’t forget we wouldn’t be dealing with the esford people, so the whole register for discount thing is a bit moot.
Still theres nothing to stop NZLARPS people directly contacting Esford but I suspect thats not exactly what king of swords was looking for :smiling_imp:

You Guys are talking about a lot of photos
We will be introducing these at The Great Lake Festival
taupojoust.com/
If you are keen to put on a display your selfs you could contact Nic Harrison
Harrison.nic@gmail.com

We are proud sponsors of this event …( the web page is to be updated stating this …in till then you will have to take my word on this )

And yes I do trade me under the name of State

my own web page is www.kingofswords.co.nz

We noticed that in recent weeks there have been some posts on Diatribe concerning a range for which we are Distributors within Australia and New Zealand.

In New Zealand our goods are being marketed through King of Swords who are based in Napier. kingofswords.co.nz They do not have any stock of the Eagle Flex range at present but we are hoping that there will be sufficient interest in the range shortly to enable them to have goods shipped directly to them.

Esford offer substantial discounts to members of re-enactment and LARP groups and forsee that a similar deal may be available through King of Swords in the future…

I will be attending the Great Lake Tournament, in Taupo, in January, at which King of Swords will have a stall. I will also have a sample range of the Eagle Flex gear with me for display.

The Eagle Flex range is made from moulded Polyethylene foam with a covering of Latex. esford.com/armourylarp.htm The cores of the weapons are made of fibre-glass, the tips of which are covered with Kevlar tape. The current range has been developed by Deepeeka and will be expanded in the near future. We are also currently designing some weapons that we will have produced in the New Year.

In addition to this range we also offer a range of leather helmets, vembraces, greaves, quivers and armour that are suitable for LARP.

We have been carrying the Deepeeka Eagle Flex range for about 18 months now and it is starting to take off really well here. We used this gear when we sponsored the Tournament of Youth at The Abbey Medieval Tournament livinghistory.com.au
Terry Fitzsimmons (Living History Aust) also runs Knight School during the long holidays and this year all of his sessions were booked out a month before they started. He has purchased sufficieint gear from us to equip 50+ participants at one time and has said that the product is holding up well and that the interest is really keen.

I had a look and the eagle flex weapons at the Great Lakes Tournament. They are pretty cool. I liked the spartan sword in particular. The latexing seemed good and appeared to have a coating similar to the new Paddywhack range, which is good this will prevent the latex peeling off and becoming un-pretty.

Of the eagle flex range the barbarian weapons have caught my eye I particularly like the sword and the axe.

Seen better, seen worse

Youse pays your money and youse makes your choice

P.s. there used to be a polyeurathane LRP Fish. If you see one let me know.

I really dislike them. I had one look and thought… they could have been made a lot cheaper by using less foam and could also look a lot more realistic.

If you want a claymore look at forgotten Dreams

I have just sourced a really cool sword just need the money to buy it. Cheaper than paddywhack and also a lot nicer too.

I will post some images when I can get it imported to New Zealand. Need to Test the weapon quality, but for all intents and purposes should make a grand weapon at St Wolfgangs

I do change my mind a lot through so I may end up being a scullery maid with a latex fish by then though… lol

I can and shall arrange such a prop for the game, just in case. I have been meaning to create a boffer fish for a while now, mainly because of a joke a late loved one told about a warrior with an improvised case of fish. but its really a need to have been there kind of joke.

Oh, what size dress will you require?

R

Size 14 i guess but with my broad shoulders and manlike chest i could probably fit into a 16

I’m sure we can find a way of making all that manliness disappear.

Well I do carry a shaver and I have been told I have great legs already, but a scullery maid ifs supposed to look more man than woman…lol

um and then theres those photos of you dressed as a playboy bunny… theres a mental image, a ninja drag playboy bunny…
:smiling_imp:

Well i gues I did meet my wife on that day shopping for high heels and asked her out on the night I dressed as the pink playboy bunny.

Drag is not too bad then it…

You will be please to know that the items I am selling are now in stock and they are made by deepeeka
deepeeka.co.in/latex-weaponry.html
who have spent a great deal of time getting a top of the line product that one could stand beside …which i do
They have a new range coming out this year I will keep you posted
also king of swords does offer a discount of 20% as an introduction offer
Which makes the products way cheaper then any thing on sale in new zealand
I hope this will bring down the prices of other suppliers thus giving the larp community better deals …
competition keeps trades honest …

I have been some what surprised with some of the commits on this thread as well as the rude chap I meet at Taupo
I wonder why these people have come on so strong as i am not forcing anything on any one I am just offering what a believe to be a better deal.
I hope other suppliers will follow suit making it better for every one in the long run
The only way to get a better deal is to have competition …
am I right or am I right

Where are the New Zealand prices? I’m a bit confused about what website I should be looking at. I can’t find any mention of latex weapons on the King of Swords website.

I think that in theory the idea of foam weapons & shields being made in India is a good one, they should be able to get prices down compared to those made in Europe because of lower labour costs. I’m more than happy to have competition to Paddywhack as I’m not really in it for the money anyhow, especially if you’re going to do some marketing around New Zealand that might raise interest in foam weapon fighting and larp.

However, as a number of people have pointed out the shape of the Eagle Flex weapons isn’t brilliant. Most of them are just a bit too “fat” to look believable, or at least that’s how they look in photos. That is the honest feedback from your potential customers. Perhaps you can feed that back to the manufacturers?

Yes these products are not on the web as i am so busy with the shop and selling real swords …In fact I didn’t want to sell foam weapons as I felt I didn’t have the time for it, plus the welcome mat on the subject wasn’'t so good either so I thought I would just leave it out …However my supplier has sent me over a box of samples which I now need to sell
I have been doing a lot of work sponsoring events and helping with prizes at events such as Taupo but I know very little about the larp community

My plan was to start youth fighting where young kids can get into latex fighting while mum and dad are doing steel fighting …however the numbers are still a little low for this to work here …How are your suppliers I would be more then happy to past this baton on to you if you wish and to have you stock the deepeeka range giving you the right to talk direct to the manufacturers about product development as well as new products
And yes you are right about the products …any product made in India / china will be cheaper by a long shot on anything made any where else
If you are keen to take this further could you please email at info@kingofswords.co.nz

Most of the items sell for $110 roughly with a 20% discount to larp people thats about $88 a unit …say something supportive and I will go down to $80

I expect the product will get better suited for what you want
At present they are mainly used for youth fighting which also comes with it’s fair share of leather kit as well

Most of the products and other bling we have are in stock and we a quite happy to come along to any sizable event to show you
and yes the web page hasn’t been updated we are looking at giving larp it’s own branch as there are so many other items that could be brought in
The site has been quite a battle to keep updated as there is so many new items

I have a few photos of hollywood type latix mask add ons …They are great turn your own face into anything and it looks real …they are so cool
however don’t know how to add photos

Like I have said we help out where we can and we put aside a % of our profit just to help and support the community that helps and supports us. I dont know much about LARP other then it looks like great fun.
At present we have been more involved with Naama and have been focused on supporting more the public displays as we feel this is he best way to bring all these arts into the main stream

I found this awesome site yesterday, it sells EVERYTHING you want and need. check it out, sign up for an account, and gimme some feedback. it might be pretty pricey but… :open_mouth:
