Greatest In-Character Moments

Postby Luciano » Sun, 11 May, 2008 3:06 pm

So what moments/comments/non-sequiturs really made the game for you all?

There are far too many to name all at once just now (my head is still spinning), but I'll start with the obvious one...

(Someone else): The vampires are coming! What shall we do?
Sridat: I don't know, I don't care, I have NO SHOES!

:D

No shoes gets my vote for the best quote of the weekend. Some good ones were said to me:

"My God, man! Is anyone you don't kill?"

"What is it, a peasant woman a day with you?"

"Can you tell us if you're mute or have taken a vow of silence?"
"..."
"Okay, have you taken a vow of silence?"

I think that was me, I'm not sure what I was thinking...

Once I gather my thoughts I'm sure I'll think of a lot more.

"... I can't believe you didn't bring a stake to a stake out!"
A forum post should be like skirt. Long enough to cover the subject, but short enough to keep things interesting.

Jade Empire: Shuji - a ronin trying to reclaim his once high station
St Wolfgang's: Le Stirge - a gargoyle unwilling to imperil his soul

Me: "We have come to an interesting theological discussion here, how long can actually the stakes be? What if we make them much longer that what we have now?"
Sridat (demonstrating a soft stake that kinda bends): "Well, if it's longer than this it will bend even easier" (waves the stake around, stake looks totally indecent)
Plus the whole following discussion about stake length

Btw, I also vote for the "no shoes" quote as the best quote of the weekend. It's amazing how much despair there was in Sridat's voice when he said that :D

Another Sridat moment ...
Sridat to a rather listless Alys on Saturday morning;
"Is all not well in Denmark?"
(to which I got horribly confused until he patiently explained it was a Hamlet quote).

Sridat triumphantly at pack up, just after it's announced we're off to Denmark to track down that Vampire & those Danes;
"It appears that all is *not* well in Denmark. Prophetic I tell you!"

Speaking of which, a kitchen moment, when Nikki and others were doing the dishes, I heard her saying (to Alista, I think) about something "See, you have read my mind!" and someone yelled "Witch! Burn him!"

And kitchen moment from my own duty:
"Cardinal! Cardinal is coming!"
"Delay the cardinal, we are still doing the dishes!"

The no shoes line def gets the funny vote, but my best ingame experience I think was the demon on the first night - walking through the trees to the firey red glow, billowing smoke, horrifying chanting, and then a tall, horned figure striding out of it all screaming "YOU ARE NOTHING BEFORE ME, ON YOUR KNEES!!!!"

I wanted to drop my gear and applaud on the spot, it was just too freakin cool - kudos to the GMs for thinking of it and Tigger for just being an awesome badass.

Other awesome moments of note include;

the "shared vision" of the angels blessing us, only for them to then be slain by devils - actually brought genuine tears to my eyes

absolutely awesome roleplaying with Nikki to find our faith (and thanks again for saving my life at least 3 times, once being in front of the demon between charges of sanctuary :D )

apparently being seduced by a gypsy

meeting a bunch of freakin cool people and making some awesome new friends :D

I've had a moment when I lost faith, after Brishen was taken from me, and then Gabrielle (the gargoyle) helped me to retrieve my faith. Was a great moment, and I cried so much *blush*

Another few for me were ...

I was so nervous about using Saintly, but the first time a vampire melted under its awesomeness I finally felt like I was kicking ass for the Lord. (Instead of being, you know, a one skill, useless character that shouldn't have survived its first game ;) )

Being (in a round about manner) proposed to! Quite a shock when the love of your life came up from hell to see you the previous night!

Hearing Pierre! It was such an in character moment of heartbreak and longing.

Other hilarious (and anachronistic) Shakespeare moments:

The witches' Sanctuary charm was "By the pricking of our thumbs, harm to us, none can come!"

On Saturday, after the white ghost scene, an extremely confused Heath wandered in to the crew room and said "That was really strange. As I walked past Alista, he remarked that I looked like the King of Denmark. What the hell?" "He's referencing Hamlet, you heathen!" (it made me laugh)

Sunday morning, I still hadn't managed to get all, or even most, of the red off my hands from the banishment of Tartarus. "It won't come off," I explained plaintively to much mirth from the players, "I washed it and washed it and it won't come off!" and someone said "Out damned spot?"

Best IC moments that I can think of right now, while I am only partially awake:

When Ragnall came and convinced me that I was not abandoned by my God and that I should have faith. Your accent is amazing, and you spoke with such sincerity, it actually moved me quite a bit. Thanks Dave

Being blind in the chapel on Saturday night when the vampires were attacking and having wounded after wounded person dragged back to where I was to have people guide me to the injured and performing first aid after first aide. It was really intense because I couldn't see very well in the dark OOc and had no idea what was happening or how many vampires there were.

Both scenes with the Demon. The first w really emotional and scarring. Tigger you do a really good job of inspiring fear. You seriously had me going for a while and I thought that my character was going to die. Really emotional with Pierre turning up as well.

The second tie the demon came it was surreal to have so many of us working together, saying the lords prayer mostly in unison and when the ghosts turned u to drag him away. WOW! Again you deserve an oscar for that performance Tigger.

There were so many more but I think its time to go crash. Thanks for an absolutely wicked game everyone.

Tigger's goal was to give someone out of character nightmares. Please let us know if he succeeded...

Not so much of an awesome scene but on the Friday evening myself, Alexander (Alista) Christof (manky) and his squire (Jamie) were surveying the gathering crowds when one by one the gypsy girls walked passed us, and as a group we all grinned as they went, then as the last raven haired beauty walked by Alista and I both said in Chorus "(sigh) we shall do penance later."

it become our chalets motto through out the game after that.

another best bit, the last battle with the danes, being smashed contemptuously;y to the ground by the Jarl (matt) with one hit, and earlier being beatne aside and grappled to the floor by tigger, it really made think i was facing a Jarl and his huscarle. though lying there and looking up to see anna threatening to gut me as my friends advanced really got the old heart pumping.

awesome work all of you for scaring the begeebus out of me severalt times.

(oh yes anna heath is a heathen (its even in his name  ))
