nzLARPS AGM 2010 – National Committee Nominations

I accept the nomination for National Secretary

The cutoff for nominations was going to be Oct 13 - have we extended this to a specific new date? Just interested in how this impacts distance voting.

Was beginning to wonder the same thing myself…

The cutoff was going to be 13th, so we could get the ballots posted out in a timely manner. However by the 13th we did not have seconded nominations and acceptances for a couple of the positions. Given that we must have people elected into the positions, sending out ballots without all the positions didn’t seem worthwhile.

I know that the bureaucracy of the society is not that interesting to some of our members, but it is important that we do have elected officers into all of the positions.

This is the first time that we have had to arrange National elections with members all over the country. The logistics of this is not an easy mattter, especially with the requirement that elections be a secret ballot. If anyone has any bright ideas how to smoothline this process, we are all ears.

No criticism intended, I’m just wondering what the new cutoff for nominations is, and how this affects the other dates.

Are there any vacant positions that still need nominations or seconding?

Sorry guess I should have accepted on the forum.

I accept the nomination

In the interests of political competition, I’ll second this nomination.

Rowena and I are sorting out the final (revised) details of the AGMs on Monday night. We are really sorry it has been so hectic, this is the first time we’ve had to co-ordinate not only regional voting but proper distance voting as well. It’s been trickier than we anticipated, plus there’ve been some real-life spanners in the works that have taken up more time than we expected.

The AGM is an important event, and we would rather it be done properly than rushed. We want to assure the club at large that our primary concerns with organising the AGMs are that:

  • there is adequate notice for all members of the society
  • there is adequate chance for everyone who wants to be on the committee to step forward
  • there is adequate systems in place for those who do not live in Auckland to vote

We will make sure these things happens, even at the cost of more time.

Thank you everyone for your patience

I have sent out an email to all distance voters for the National elections. If you believe that you should be eligible for distance voting and have not received the email then either:

  1. The email has been eaten by your spam/junk mail folder. Please check there for it.
  2. I have screwed up and missed your email from the list of distance voters. Please email nzlarps.secretary@gmail.com and I will rectify this.
  3. I do not have your correct email address listed. Please email nzlarps.secretary@gmail.com and I will rectify this.
  4. You are not currently listed as an NZLARPS member. Please check http://diatribe.co.nz/t/current-membership-list/4376/1 for list of current members. If you believe you should be on here and are not, please email nzlarps.secretary@gmail.com and I will look into the matter for you.

Should you receive your email into an account that is not the one you wish to receive emails from NZLARPS, please email nzlarps.secretary@gmail.com and I will rectify this.

Thank you all.

Due to venue problems, the AGM has been pushed out to NEXT Thursday, October 28th. The confirmed venue will be posted tomorrow. In light of this, if there are people still wishing to stand, you may do so until midnight Tuesday 19th October. On Wednesday, the postal ballots are being mailed out. The date for receiving the postal ballots is likewise extended October 28th.

Thank you to everyone that has replied to my email regarding distance voting.

Those that requested postal voting have had their voting slips mailed to them.

I have emailed the voting slips to those that requested email voting. Please do not reply to the email but forward your votes to nzlarps.agm.2010@gmail.com

There are still several people eligible for distance voting that have not contacted me. There is still time for me to post voting forms if you get me your address ASAP. If you prefer to email vote, could you please let me know. Please send you response to nzlarps.secretary@gmail.com

Thanks

Rowena

Oh, and everyone nominated should make their election speech via diatribe. Because if we lose to No Confidence then we have to go through all this again

I’ll second this. I’d like to have some basis to cast my ballot on, please.

So, where are we posting these speeches?

What’s the deadline for email voting? The day of the AGM? Or some other specific day/time?

So, where are we posting these speeches?[/quote]

I have started a thread here http://diatribe.co.nz/t/election-speeches-2010-national-committee/4402/1

No one from Wellington wants to go for National positions? :frowning:

We’re not very good at committees?
