Going on an Op-Shop scour this weekend. Hopefully that’ll result in some nice new costumey stuff, and then I can plan out what else I need to track down for the rest of Chimera.
Or you could just hand parts out to classmates as “samples” or somesuch to carry up for you. Could make for an interesting newspaper headline…
And now, with two weeks to go, I’m feverishly trying to finish the lacey ruffley capelet thing I’m knitting for my costume for Circus of the Spectacular. My flatmate found me sitting on the floor outside the bathroom using my yarn ball winder at 7.30am. Her reaction: “Of course. Why wouldn’t you be doing that at this time of the morning?”
(I have cleavage. But not a lot, alas.

To date I’ve made 5 helmets/headdresses for other people and am now working on a headdress for myself.
My eye is so fine-tuned to look for little wisps of dried hot-glue that I’ve started spotting them in pictures of professional made costumes!
It’s like “Where’s Waldo” for larpers.

If they want a metal one, no. I’d have to look on the internet for something.
They could make one out of craft foam but I’m only just new to this medium so don’t have advice other than: get foam, get glue, get paint and go for it.

In that game it would depend on your character - in the first run, there were guys wandering around in suits, and ‘slum dwellers’ who had a very distinctive shared look, and various people going for bright colours. At default, modern day formal wear and use makeup or bits of wire as prostheses to suggest cybernetics.

Friday night - Suit.
Saturday morning - Bald cap, robes/kimono.
Saturday afternoon - Fantasy villagers outfit.
Saturday evening - Anyone know where I can pick up a kimono? Also glasses and grey hair dye.
Sunday morning - casual every day wear.
Sunday afternoon - Suit again.
I’ve just finished my Gordian Knot outfit. It’s very heavy on black. 
Apart from that, I don’t have much left to do - sewing some stripes on a dress and sorting out an apron. For everything else I can pretty much adapt other stuff I’ve made.
Soooo - I need a severed head.
It needs to be light, so it can be supported by one of my fake arms. At this point I’m thinking of stuffing a halloween mask, but there’s not much in the way of full-head masks on trademe or the shops here. Ideally it should have hair so I can glue the fake hand around it.
Any suggestions? Anyone know where to get one/have one I could borrow?
Also I spent most of the weekend painting corpse arms They look awesome!
What about a large dolls head, second hand store?

I can do you a kimono.
You have a choice between:
Dark with rust stripes.
Steel blue.
Light blue with a temple painting on the back (technically an undergarment but who’s counting?)
Or blue and pink cherry blossoms. It’s definitely girly, but I’m not sure what your precise need is.
Sashes for boys are a bit iffier, but I can get you something to wrap yourself with.

Your helm is all painted but remember to bring cloth to wrap around the base. Unless you want to pay an extra $5 and have me do it.

You sort your costume out first!! If you have a chance, I don’t mind paying to get a bit of cloth attached, but only if you have enough time.
